Description

LIFE WITH BIRDS is a web-comic strip about living with pet birds. The story can be funny, sad or heartwarming. It's a mix between personal experience and wild imagination of my life as an artist and a bird parent. All the characters in my comic are based on the real birds that I have/had. New comic is released once in 2 weeks here. Special bird comics (full page, several pages long) are posted on my Patreon for patrons only.

Take me with you!

Bird webcomic about living with finches and lovebird parrots. Drawn in yonkoma manga comic strip style. It can be funny, sad or heart warming. Art by Emmil Thomas.
Lol, stubborn bird!! If only Pipi were less scared of things, I could bring her out for a quick trip to kitchen. Sometimes she's so determined to be with me that it's really hard to leave my working room. As soon as I grab the door handle, she'll fly to me and land on my head/shoulder. If I turn around before she lands, she'll be fluttering in the air like a humming bird, waiting for me to reach out my hand for her landing pad. If I walk just one step outside of the room, she will get scared of whatever she sees out there and fly back into the working room by herself. Lol, at least I won't have an escape finch case! :D It's different with lovebirds, they are bold creatures. It's much harder to keep them in their bird room because they are not afraid of those big things in the house (refrigerator, sofa, etc) and do enjoy a sightseeing around my house by riding my shoulder or by staying inside my t-shirt. And if they see a window/front door open, they might escape just because their curiosity gets the best of them. ^^; What about your birds? Please leave a comment below! Thanks. :D

  1. My finch flies all over the house, staying well away from open doors. The parrotlet only stays in the living room / kitchen (birdproof). I'm still careful about windows and doors with them. :)

    1. I'm trying my best to close windows and doors again every time I use them, especially after Pepe escaped (and returned). I also have made a birdie room indoor and no longer use the outdoor colony cage. :)

  2. Tiki flies everywhere - we have a few rules set to keep him away from open doors, but boy, does he fly /everywhere/. We can't take showers alone - he hates the shower, but he loves to sit there and sing at us. >_>

  3. It is good she doesn't want to got out there, you always know where she is and she is safe.
Thankfully Fluffy doesn't try to escape.

    1. Is Fluffy not interested with the world outside the window? Have you ever left the front door open and he didn't escape? :)

  4. That's very true about Lovebirds. Our Lovebird, Habibti, loves flying around any room we put her in, and she goes wherever we do. But we never let her out in the kitchen because for some reason, she always flies and sits on our sink faucet? And its impossible to get her out without being bit lol but its ok :P

    1. Perhaps she wants to take a bath in a sink? Some people let their birds take a bath in their kitchen sink with running water :D

  5. We were looking all over for Chico (cockatiel) one day. Finally found him admiring himself in the mirror in Mum's bedroom. Which is funny, because he always HATED the mirror in his cage!

  6. Tori, our green cheek conure, finds the world scary too--he comes out for a bit, as long as it's familar to him.

    1. Yes, it took Pipi sometimes too when she moved from my old to my new working room. Same table and other things that she knew really helped her to accept her new environment. :)

  7. My Little Frederico (Lovebird) thinks my bedroom is her extended cage now. She know the boundries of the house, but if I'm not in the room she goes searching for me and will yell at my sister thinking that she is hiding me.

    1. Yes, they don't like to be left alone. I bet she loves staying inside your t-shirt too? :D

  8. The budgies here don't bother trying to go with me when I leave the room, except for every now and then. Then, when they are in an unfamiliar room, they are frightened just like your finches! They just want to be back "home" in the cage! I LOVE your comics, thanks so much!!

    1. It reminds me of the first time my dog had a walk with a leash. She just froze in front of our house gate, wouldn't take a step forward. A week later she had already dragged me all the way on the streets! :D
