Description

LIFE WITH BIRDS is a web-comic strip about living with pet birds. The story can be funny, sad or heartwarming. It's a mix between personal experience and wild imagination of my life as an artist and a bird parent. All the characters in my comic are based on the real birds that I have/had. New comic is released once in 2 weeks here. Special bird comics (full page, several pages long) are posted on my Patreon for patrons only.

Heavenly talk

slice of life bird yonkoma manga web comics
Lol, don't argue with God! That's the point of this comic. I don't know know why he sent me Chopchop to take care of when I have already had 11 feathery pycho kids. Maybe he wants to give another chance to take care a very special kid like Pocky was. Well, whatever His plan is, it'll be better than my own. I just have to have this faith that He'll make everything beautiful in time and I'll see why things happen in my life. :)

This is Chopchop. If you like to be his aunt and uncle, please join my bird patronage at Patreon. I've started a special comic series for my bird patrons, a little reward to show my heartfelt gratitude for your support. Thanks for every little donation you sent to us, whether it's a $2 pledge a month, bird toys, shopping at my bird gift store, commissioning me a portrait painting of your bird, etc. It's heartwarming to see people still care for others especially those who live in a 3rd world country like me. You make my birds know a better life. I'm alone can't go this far without you all! <3

  3. My one and only yellow sided conure is s special kid too! To all the special mummy and daddy out there, the only reason I see is that God entrusted it with us because he is sending the message that we have the heart and ability to give the special love and care it needs. It's such a burden and blessing at the same time it's hard to describe. Yey to us!

  4. When I was about 15, a huge windstorm blew through our neighborhood, taking down an old Martin house. Due to lack of upkeep, many variety of birds had chosen it for raising their families. Needless to say, the babies of several breeds were spread all over the yard and were all at different stages of growth. I and my sisters gathered the ones that survived and took them home.

One by one, all of them died, with the exception of 2 Grackles. Heartbreaking, yes, but having helped the 2 survive, made it all worthwhile.

This was in the mid ‘70's, so the only guidance we had was from people who knew birds and what they preferred to eat. We started out with baby food, veggies, fruit, and meat, mixed together, thinned with water and fed with a glass eyedropper. They thrived!

Knowing how our Mom felt about longterm, indoor animals of any kind, we knew that the main goal was to eventually get them “back into the wild." As their flight feathers started to come in, we would take them out and put them on a lower branch of the Maple tree, in our backyard. We still would go out regularly, to feed them, then, in the evening, we'd bring them back into the house.

As they matured, we backed off on feeding them, almost creating “monsters." They were getting really good at flying and every time the slider screen door would open, they would, literally, dive bomb the person coming out. They wanted to be fed, NOW! In time, we started leaving them in the tree, overnight. Each morning was an experience, walking out the backdoor! However, within a week to 10 days, their visits started coming from other trees and bushes around the yard. Eventually, we ceased seeing them.

Sad, yes! But knowing that our efforts helped 2 little birds survive and thrive, makes it all worthwhile!

All that said, Emmil, WAY TO GO!!!
